  • Why wouldn't I just hire a freelancer or full-time designer?

    Finding great designers who can reliably deliver high-quality work, on time, and communicate the work effectively—this is a tall order (especially if you don't have experience hiring designers).

    With BAO, you get a team of seasoned designers, and the flexibility to pause or cancel at anytime. BAO lets you pay only for what you need, when you need it.

  • Who is on this team of designers?

    You'll work directly with our team of handpicked, top-notch designers.

    We strongly believe two heads are better than one: one designer responsible for fulfilling your design requests, and one design lead available for providing fresh eyes, feedback, and ensuring the work goes smoothly.

    With BAO, you're really paying for a team of designers—more expert eyes on your work, and higher quality results.

  • What happens when I pause my subscription?

    When you pause your subscription: design services are put on hold, you retain access to your designs, and you will no longer be charged.

    You can pause your subscription by getting in touch with your account manager via email or Slack.

  • Are there any refunds?

    This will depend on how you engage with us.

    For subscriptions, we do not issue refunds.

    For time and materials, you pay a retainer upfront and any unused hours are refunded to you.

    For fixed-cost projects, this will depend on the terms of your project contract with us.

  • After submitting a request, what can I expect to receive in 48 hrs?

    Depending on the size of the request—and the amount of detail you provide us with—you can expect to receive a range of design work: from a near-complete logo, to a first draft of wireframes for a mobile app (and always with different options and directions to choose from).

    While you may not get "final designs" within the first 48 hrs, we are committed to delivering meaningful, tangible progress with every 48-hr cycle—and thoughtful, high-caliber, one-of-a-kind designs crafted by top-notch design professionals.

    Practically speaking, when your designs are ready: your designer share a link to the latest designs in Figma, a summary of updates and questions for you, and a walkthrough of the work and feedback needed from you in order to proceed.

  • What if I don't like the design?

    If you are on a subscription, we offer unlimited revisions: we will continue work on the design until you are 100% satisfied.

    If you are on a fixed-cost project with us, terms will be provided in our contract together.

  • How do I communicate with BAO and my designers?

    Our designers will use the tools you already use to communicate: Slack, email, and/or whatever you most prefer.

    Our designers also embed with your product and engineering teams: they will join your team's meetings and rituals, and collaborate live as need.
